Oh Alberta....

It's almost too painful to watch what's going on in Alberta.  Ever since the (Dis)United Conservative Party elected (barely) Ms Danielle Smith as party leader, the stories coming out of that province have been distressingly similar.

The recent news is serious.  Apparently, Ms Smith has been in touch with Alberta's Justice Minister and Crown prosecutors about possibly dropping charged related to breaking Public Health Orders during the pandemic and certain activities at Coutts, AB, related to the so-called "freedom convoy" about a year ago.

There are increasing calls for an independent probe into whether the Premier tried to interfere in the justice system.

Smith, of course, promised her base that she would issue pardons for anything they did (in the name of freedom) in violating Public Health Orders during the pandemic.  Then she found out she couldn't do that, so she had to backtrack.

Smith started off her Premiership by insisting that the unvaccinated were the most persecuted people she knew of.  I'd say Ms Smith needs to get out more.  Clearly there are (and have been) things going on in the world that she has no knowledge of.  "The most persecuted...."???  Give me an effin' break.

She wants vaccine status (presumably lack of) to be a basic human right.  There are some serious consequences to this, as explained in the article.  The thing is, people don't have to get vaccinated.  Nobody is forcing them to get vaccinated.  There were a few instances of things you couldn't do and jobs you couldn't have if you were not vaccinated.  Those have almost all gone by the wayside.  The few that remain (healthcare workers) are there for very good, medical, reasons.  Not something Ms Smith seems to care much about.

What do you expect when you select an ant-vaccine, conspiracy-driven fool as Party Leader?

The last leader (aka: Premier) was bad enough.

Now Alberta has a premier who clearly doesn't know truth from fiction or right from wrong.

It must be really embarrassing.
