Travels Down South

As part of an extended USA trip, we visited NYC and Washington DC, specifically Central Park across from the Dakota where Lennon was shot, the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial, and Arlington National Cemetery with the JFK memorial.  It's staggering to note that over 50,000 soldiers died in Vietnam, and that's just the Americans.  The assassination of JFK was one of those events that I still remember clearly for some reason.  And Lennon.....  It's all just so sad, and such a waste.

We're From the Government....

Hard to resist slagging the Conservative government over their broken promise NOT to tax Income Trusts, but more and more evidence is surfacing that seems to contradict their tax erosion doom and gloom.  For some more info, visit: CAIF.  Incidentally, it's hard to see how people can make investment decisions when they risk being sabotaged by their government.  I guess we need to remember the phrase: "We're from the government and we're here to help you".

More Water

Recent storms on the west coast (aka: the Wet Coast) have muddied the waters, so to speak.  Reservoirs supplying Vancouver have been churned up and their treatment systems can't deal with it.  Consequently, many people in that city are on a "boil water advisory".  I've been kind of amused by all the media attention this advisory is generating.  Here in the "hinterland" of BC, there are many communities on boil water advisories, and have been for years.  Vancouver's water will be back to normal in a few days, but there's lots of work to be done elsewhere....(if anyone's noticing...).
